Great Garlic Bread

One whole loaf of French bread

3 medium garlic cloves, crushed

3/4 stick of butter

1/2 tsp oregano

pinch paprika

1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 350°.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium low heat. Add the crushed garlic. (Be careful not to burn either butter or garlic.) Stir in the oregano and paprika.

Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Brush (or spoon) the mixture (including chunks of garlic) onto the cut sides of the two halves and place them back together again.

Wrap whole bread completely in aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.

Open up foil, separate halves and top each with grated Parmesan cheese. Broil (not too close to heat) for a few seconds to melt the cheese.

Slice into 2 inch pieces and serve. (I usually don't cut all the way across so that each half has all the pieces still attached to it and people can "rip" them off.)
